Police were on the scene investigating after they said a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night in Rolesville.

Raleigh police said officials were at the 600 block of South Main St. in Rolesville. WRAL's Mark Boyle reports the driver of the vehicle, who hasn't been identified, was heading south when a man who was walking in the road was hit.

On Saturday, police identified the pedestrian as John Henry Landis Jr., 75, of Rolesville. Officials said the driver did a u-turn to see what they had hit and discovered Landis, who was taken to the WakeMed. He later died there.

Police said the driver cooperated with the investigation and no charges would be filed.
