Police identify man killed in Fayetteville motorcycle crash

A military member died Thursday night in a motorcycle crash on Yadkin Road in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville police said Aaron Rathmann, 21, a military member riding a motorcycle from Fort Liberty, collided with an SUV that was turning into Jersey Mike's.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:56 p.m. in the 5800 block of Yadkin Road. Police say the victim, who has not been identified, died at the scene.

Yadkin Road was closed between Bonanza Drive and Horseshoe Road for several hours while police investigated the crash.

The road has since reopened.

WRAL News is waiting to learn if charges will be filed for the driver of the SUV.
