Police ID driver and passenger killed in fiery Chapel Hill crash

A driver and a passenger were killed Tuesday night in a crash in Chapel Hill.

Chapel Hill police identified the driver as Lisa Marie Yanez, 50, of Carrboro, and the passenger as as Vaughn Avery Booker, 40, of Durham.

Around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Chapel Hill firefighters and police officers responded to a crash and car fire in the 600 block of West Barbee Chapel Road near Raleigh Road.

Investigators said the driver struck a tree.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
