Police: Fight likely, but no evidence of shots fired at Crabtree Valley Mall

Raleigh police said there was a fight at Crabtree Valley Mall on Saturday, but no evidence of shots fired.

Police were seen responding to the mall just before 7 p.m.

"We heard everyone start screaming, everyone in front of screaming just took off," said shopper Kaylee Morton.

Kaylee Morton said she was at Victoria's Secret on lockdown for 45 minutes. They said they heard a gunshot.

"We were sitting there for a while, and then we heard a loud pop. Then, people started screaming again," said Morton.

Another man, who asked not to be identified by WRAL News, said he and several other people hid in the back of the Apple Store.

"I saw a man pick up his kid and just dash off to the back of the Apple Store," he said.

Witnesses said it sounded like the incident happened near Sephora.

Traffic was backed up for miles around the mall as people attempted to leave. The mall remained open for Saturday night.

Police said no arrests have been made in connection to the fight, but that there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The incident at Crabtree Valley Mall marked the second at a mall in central North Carolina this week. Fayetteville police were called to Cross Creek Mall on Thursday for a shooting in the parking lot. Two men have been charged with attempted first-degree murder in the shooting.
