Eight students were taken to a hospital Tuesday afternoon after a Wake County school bus and a car collided on Wade Avenue in Raleigh.

Distracted driving caused a school bus crash in Raleigh that sent 9 children to the hospital Tuesday, according to a police report.

No injuries were reported in the crash, which happened on Wade Avenue between St. Mary’s Street and Glenwood Avenue, but the children were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

In the report released Wednesday, officers said bus driver Angela Hunter Williams was distracted by the students on the bus and nearly collided with a vehicle. She swerved to avoid that vehicle, then collided with a car driven by Carlos Ovidio Vasquez.

Vasquez’s car was pushed into a utility pole.

Police said no charges were filed in the crash.
