Authorities said that a Department of Transportation worker reported seeing the body in the river at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday near South Bright Leaf Boulevard and called 911.
Authorities said the man has not been identified.
He is described as being 5 feet, 3 inches tall and white with a black and red “tribal design” tattoo on his upper right arm and shoulder.
