Pinetops offering $3,000 reward for information in case involving a woman who was struck by bullet while sitting in car in Pinetops Thursday night

Pinetops police offered a $3,000 reward Friday for credible information in relation to a case of a woman being struck by a bullet while in the passenger seat of a car.

The woman was sitting in a car when she was struck by a bullet Thursday in Pinetops.

According to Pinetops police, a man, who was also in the car, called police after his female passenger was hit while both were sitting in the car on East Lashley Street in Pinetops.

The passengers heard gunshots coming from a distance on the passenger side of the vehicle, and the woman was hit by one of the shots.

Police said the victim was taken to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. As of 9:30 p.m. the woman was in serious but stable condition.

Police said multiple .223 caliber rounds were located behind a residence where the victims told officers the shots were coming from.

The residence, where several people were sitting on the front porch, was also struck.

No motive is known and police are asking anyone with information to call 252-827-5014.
