I had a wonderful evening with my family at JC Raulston Arboretum's Moonlight in the Garden over the weekend.

For the first time in more than a decade, the arboretum at N.C. State opened its gates to the public after hours. The event returns this weekend - 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

The event features thousands of luminaries; hot apple cider; marshmallows to roast, food trucks; live music and more, including a cute little lightning bug craft. It also serves as a showcase for different ways to light your home and landscape.

Tickets are $15 and $5 for kids 12 and under. The Raleigh arboretum's website has more information. Check the image gallery for more photos.
