Person assaulted with blunt object in Durham, police say

A person was assaulted late Wednesday night in Durham, police said.

Authorities responded to a reported shooting in the 200 block of S. Alston Avenue just before 11 p.m. and marked off a perimeter around a nearby apartment complex. Officers later learned no shots had been fired, but somebody was assaulted with a blunt weapon.

Police found a victim lying in the parking lot of an apartment complex, police said. The severity of the person's injuries was not released.
