Pellet gun confiscated at East Cary Magnet Middle School

An airsoft pellet gun was confiscated Monday at East Cary Magnet Middle School.

According to school administration, a student brought the airsoft pellet gun to campus and showed it to other students on a school bus.

The incident was reported, and the pellet gun was confiscated.

A statement sent to families read, "Please remember that any student found in possession of a weapon of any kind on school grounds on one of our buses will be disciplined in accordance with district policies ... I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that these airsoft guns, which some mistakenly view as toys, do represent a threat to the safety of our students and staff. They are strictly prohibited at our school."
