Pedestrians hit by vehicle on Cary Parkway

Town officials said a vehicle broke down near the intersection of Southwest Cary Parkway and Towne Village Road, and the two people inside got out to look under the hood. Their vehicle was then rear-ended, causing the car to roll over the two people.

Pedestrians hit by vehicle on Cary Parkway

A portion of Cary Parkway was closed briefly after two pedestrians were hit by a car, police said Thursday.

Town officials said a vehicle broke down near the intersection of Southwest Cary Parkway and Towne Village Road, and the two people inside got out to look under the hood. Their vehicle was then rear-ended, causing the car to roll over the two people. 

The pedestrians, identified as Cassandra Miller, 18, and Steven Tandy, 18, both of Cary, were taken to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh for treatment of mild to moderate head injuries. They were treated and released. 

The driver of the second vehicle, Brian Parks, 22, of Cary, was not injured. 

Police said charges are pending.
