Pedestrian hit, killed in south Durham

A pedestrian died late Tuesday after being hit by a vehicle on N.C. Highway 55 near Meredith Drive in Durham, police said. 

Officers responded to the area at about 10:45 p.m.

According to investigators, Brittany Cobb, of Durham, was walking across N.C. Highway 55 when she was hit by a vehicle driven by Armando Molino Patino, also of Durham. 

Cobb was taken to the hospital, where she later died. 

Charges have not been filed, but the incident remains under investigation.
