Paul McCartney's 'Freshen Up' tour plays Raleigh
The iconic singer and former member of The Beatles played to a packed crowd at PNC Arena Monday night, bringing fans of all ages out to rock with him during the closing hours of Memorial Day.
Megan Kirkpatrick lives in the Triangle, but her friend, Irene Bailey, now lives in Maryland.
Bailey drove down from Maryland to catch McCartney's "Freshen Up" tour, his first outing following the release of his new studio album, "Egypt Station."
"It's Paul, the favorite Beatle," she said. "Our favorite Beatle."
The two women were just teenagers when they first saw McCartney in concert in Washington, D.C., back in 1966.
"We experienced history before we even knew their legacy and what it would be eventually." Kirkpatrick said.
McCartney kicked off his new tour in New Orleans last Thursday, and Raleigh was his second stop.
Fans from all over rocked out to McCartney, including one couple that said they flew down from Alaska to attend the show.
"My husband says it's a good show," said Ilene Buchanan. "I'm looking forward to that."
