The body of 25-year-old Staff Sergeant Caleb Gore returned to North Carolina on Thursday afternoon. The Army soldier was killed in March in a helicopter training crash near Fort Campbell in Kentucky.

At Raleigh-Durham International Airport, members of the Patriot Guard gathered with Gore's family to escort his body back to his hometown of Morehead City.

Dozens of Patriot guard members were there and and more were expected to join along the route to Gore's hometown.

None of the men and women out here today know Gore or his family but they say they are bonded through the brotherhood of service.

"It's something we do when we're called," said James Dixon with the Patriot Guard. "It's something we get, fro the heart. it means so much to us. I'm a fellow veteran. I'm a fellow marine, And we're all brothers in this, we're all brothers in this."

"Everybody in the military," said Charles Bullock with the Patriot Guard. "They're our brothers and that's what we're here for - to honor one of our brothers."
