Crews cleaning up after part of building collapses in Selma

Officials were working to clean up an area of downtown Selma after part of an unoccupied building collapsed on Saturday.

The Johnston County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the collapse just after 4 p.m. at 116 S. Raiford St. Nobody was injured.

The front and side of the building were in ruins, but the rest of the building was still standing.

Crews were out cleaning up the area Saturday evening. There was no immediate word on why the building collapsed. An investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway.
