Overhead ice cream delivery? Drones make it happen in NC

You can now get ice cream delivered by drone in several North Carolina cities.

Flying Fudgsicle Pops: Unilever’s The Ice Cream Shop has partnered with Flytrex for airborne ice cream delivery in Holly Springs, Fayetteville and Raeford.

Last week, WRAL's Joe Fisher reported the Town of Holly Springs, which launched its partnership with Flytrex several years ago, is now expanding its reach of backyard deliveries within a mile of Holly Springs Towne Center. People can also request their meals to be delivered using public drop-off spots like Ting Park.

You can currently get food from 20 different restaurants delivered by drone in Holly Springs.

Now ice cream orders will also be delivered by drone in less than three minutes to customers in available service areas. Customers just need to download the Flytrex app to place their order. The app will keep them updated on their order status and location until it's safely in their yard.
