Orange County foster parent arrested for giving baby alcohol

An Orange County foster parent is facing child abuse charges after giving a baby a dangerous amount of alcohol.

LaTarndra Strong, 55, has been charged with felony neglect child abuse after a 5-month-old in her care nearly died from alcohol.

Strong, a former president of the Northern Orange NAACP, was arrested Tuesday.

Court documents of the arrest warrant allege that on March 18, Strong made a bottle for a 5-month-old baby that contained alcohol.

She then left the baby in the care of adults who could not provide emergency care to the baby.

The warrant also says that the adults caring for the baby did not call 911 when the baby became unresponsive and stopped breathing.

Matt Hughes, President for the Northern Orange NAACP and Orange County Partnership for Young Children issued this statement:

"Ms Strong is a member of the Board of Directors for the Orange County Partnership for Young Children and has been asked to resign given our mission focused on the healthy growth and development for every child and the potential this case has to distract from that mission at this time."
