Youth Services detectives filed a petition with the Department of Juvenile Justice, charing the juvenile with second-degree burglary, conspiracy, felony larcency and possession of stolen goods.

When deputies arrived at 4:31 a.m., they found a man who had been shot. Deputies found Smith in the front yard with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a neighbor responded to the breaking and entering before deputies arrived and shot Smith as he exited the residence.
