One killed in N.C. 96 wreck

One person was killed Monday morning in a collision on N.C. Highway 96, authorities said.

Manda Salter, 56, of Youngsville, was making a left turn off of Rocking Chair Drive in the Sandy Pines subdivision onto southbound N.C. 96 shortly before 8 a.m. when the car was hit on the driver's side by a northbound pickup, authorities said.

The driver of the pickup wasn't injured.

Highway Patrol troopers said the pickup didn't have time to stop before the collision.
