One dies in Wilson County wreck

A man died in a single-vehicle accident early Thursday in Elm City, authorities said.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a 30-year-old man was speeding on South Elm City Road near Upchurch Road when he lost control and slammed into a utility pole. The crash happened shortly after 1 a.m.

The man’s name was not immediately released. No other information was available.
