On cam: Two men in Cary robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight

Video captured a scary moment in a Cary neighborhood: Two men being robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight.

Two men that were part of a landscaping crew were working in the front yard when a Silver Honda Accord pulled up alongside the road. The two suspects can be seen leaping out of the car and running towards the yard, stealing two large items and running back to their car.

The video then shows two victims shying away from the men, who are brandishing firearms in their face.

The robbery happened around 2 p.m. on April 11 on the 1500 block of Cavalcade Drive.

The suspects stole a concrete saw and a backpack blower.

The video, which was shared by Hipólito Angel García, has over 150,000 views and hundreds of comments.

Neighbors react to the scary armed robbery in broad daylight

The encounter was quick, but has had a lasting impact on this community. Neighbors say they are shocked this happened in broad daylight.

“Just the whole idea that somebody would be so aggressive to do something like that is really sad," said one neighbor.

Chak Reddy, who lives directly across the street and was home when this happened, said, "Why would you want to do something like that to begin with?"

A majority of the homes on this street and many throughout the neighborhood have security doorbell cameras. Even so, neighbors say this armed robbery will be on their minds anytime they’re working outside around the house.

"It’s not something you would expect, so you definitely gotta be more aware," said a neighbor.

Understandably, neighbors are shaken up, but most of their concern is for the victims: The landscaping crew who were working in what they thought was a very safe neighborhood.

Other crimes and robberies in Cary neighborhoods caught on camera

This is far from the first time thefts and robberies have been caught on camera around Cary. Last August, WRAL reported on multiple car thefts caught on surveillance cameras happening around Cary. That same month, another Cary neighborhood woke up to find dozens of car tires slashed.

Cary police say the vehicle did not have a license plate, so anyone who recognizes the car or the two suspects is asked to call 919-469-4012 with information.
