Here's a fun—and important—event to go to with your mom friends.

The North Hills Wine Walk is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., May 11, and will raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which works to end women's cancers.

The walk is organized by the five Young Moms Against Cancer, who WRAL anchor/reporter Debra Morgan featured a couple of months ago. Claren Englebreth, Allison Eckstein, Britni Prybol, Jen Hoverstad and Brittany Moye are all young mothers who were treated for breast cancer in 2018. They started a team called Young Moms Against Cancer to perhaps help others avoid the struggles they faced when they were diagnosed and have organized fundraising efforts, such as the wine walk, to raise money.

With a $20 donation, Wine Walk participants walk around participating stores that will be marked with five pink balloons, and each store will offer participants a small one or two-ounce pour of wine while the customer shops. (A non-alcoholic option will also be available.)

Also, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., May 11, the Rex UNC Health Care mobile mammogram unit will be on site, next to Monkee’s, offering mammograms. If a woman does not have insurance, the mammogram will be free of charge to her. If a woman has insurance, she simply uses her insurance to register.

To sign up for the mammogram, head to Rex's website. Women interested in scheduling an appointment will need to choose “Kay Yow Cancer Fund North Hills Event” from the list when it asks them to “Please select an Employer”.

More information about the Wine Walk, including tickets, is on the Kay Yow Cancer Fund's website.
