North Edgecombe High School athletic director and head football coach Jason Miller has stepped down, he confirmed with HighSchoolOT.

Miller served as the Warrior's co-athletic director since 2013 and became the head football coach and sole athletic director in 2018.

North Edgecome went 6-6 in his first season at the helm and 10-4 in 2019. That team made it to the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 1A state playoffs.

Miller only had one losing season as head coach: the spring 2021 Covid season. The Warriors went 2-4. Over Miller's five seasons, the Warriors had a combined record of 32-24.

Miller said that he wanted to be able to spend more time with his family.

He provided this statement to HighSchoolOT:

I’ve had the privilege of being part of the North Edgecombe family for 19 years. I have been mentored by some of the best coaches in Eastern NC- Keith Parisher & Danny Ward being the main two.

I’ve been part of some very successful teams on the field but more importantly it’s the lifelong relationships that I’ve developed over the years with players & coaches that make it all worthwhile.

Along the way I’ve made countless lifelong friends & colleagues whose efforts make North Edgecombe football a true family.

Recently I’ve had the opportunity to spend more time with my family and feel that this is the right time to step away from high school athletics and slow down just a bit.

I will always cherish my time at North Edgecombe & although I am leaving I will always be a Warrior For Life!
