NC State is on the board for a class of 2026 defensive tackle in Eastern North Carolina.

North Duplin sophomore Trashawn Ruffin took to his X account to announce the verbal scholarship offer on Tuesday.

Ruffin is listed at 6-foot-3.5 inches tall and 303 pounds.

The big defensive prospect's first offer came form the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in June. So far, the two in-state programs are the only ones to make an offer.

The rising junior showed early signs of dominance as a freshman and sophomore on varsity.

Ruffin made 31 total tackles, six tackles for a loss, four sacks, a forced fumble, and a blocked punt during his freshman season in 2022.

As as a sophomore, Ruffin was credited with 52 total tackles, eight tackles for a loss, and four sacks.

Ruffin helped North Duplin finish the 2023 season with a 9-3 overall record. The Rebels' season was ended by Southeast Halifax in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 1A East playoffs.
