North Carolina's Bam Adebayo selected to 2024 USA Men's National Team

A former North Carolina high school boys' basketball standout will represent the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Bam Adebayo, a native of Pinetown, was officially selected to the USA Men's National Team on Wednesday. Adebayo was born in Newark, NJ and moved to North Carolina when he was seven. He was also on the 2020 USA Men's team and helped the country win its fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

Adebayo spent his first three years of high school at the local Northside-Pinetown High. He transferred to High Point Christian Academy for his senior year. As a junior at Northside, Adebayo averaged 32.2 points and 21.0 rebounds per game.

The forward received numerous accolades while in high school, including being named the state's player of the year in 2016.

He was a 5-star prospect coming out of high school and enrolled at the University of Kentucky. A one and done in college, Adebayo was selected by the Miami Heat with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Adebayo has spent his entire NBA career in Miami, making it into three All-Star games and helping the Heat reach the NBA Finals twice. Bam has averaged 15.4 points and 8.7 points per game over his NBA career so far.
