Noah's Landing plans special Labor Day weekend celebration

Blue & 'Cue at the Zoo features bluegrass, barbecue, crafts and, of course, a lot of animals.

Noah's Landing, the non-profit children's zoo in Coats, will host its annual Blue & 'Cue at the Zoo on Labor Day weekend.

This is one of a handful of special events where the zoo opens its doors on both a Saturday and Sunday and visitors are not required to go on a guided tour. This makes especially great for younger kids.

Families will be able to wander around the zoo and take part in special activities including a "Handimal" station where kids can turn handprints into artwork. There will be bluegrass music and barbecue plates on sale from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Kids will get to feed carrots to the zebra and donkeys, interact with "Wally" the alligator and see a variety of other animals.

It's 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8 per person. Barbecue plates, including tea or lemonade, are $8.
