Two people died of gunshot wounds and a third was in critical condition Friday evening after what authorities described as a robbery gone wrong in Robeson County.

Four people – Jason Kendall Chavis, 19, of Huggins Road in Lumberton; Derrick Scott Shea, 21, of Buie Philadelphus Road in Red Springs; Kiara Jones, 18, of Chickenfoot Road in St. Pauls; and Shamallory Jones, 20, of Columbus Circle in Red Springs – were found just before 4 a.m. in a vehicle along Shannon Road west of Lumberton.

Chavis died before deputies arrived. Shea died of his injuries at a Southeastern Regional Medical Center. Kiara Jones was listed in critical condition Friday at Duke Medical University Hospital. Shamallory Jones was not injured.
