Fayetteville woman sought in alleged machete attack

Cumberland County sheriff's deputies have a Fayetteville woman, who they say attacked her boyfriend with a machete, in custody.

Eboney Shea James, 22, was wanted on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. She turned herself in to authorities shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said James cut Kenneth John Holmes III, 23, at their home at 5711 Scrub Oak Court. Holmes suffered injuries to his right hand, according to the sheriff's office.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said James had just come home from work when the two began arguing at their home.

James has small children, but it is unknown if the children were home at the time of the incident, Tanna said.

Neighbors said the couple had recently moved into the home.

James was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. Her first court appearance was set for Wednesday.
