A third man has been charged with murder in the death of a 17-year-old boy whose body was found in a burning house in Rocky Mount last month.

Firefighters found the body of Chavalis Boyd, 17, inside a house at 7201 Silver Leaf Road on Sept. 4. An autopsy determined that Boyd had been shot to death before the fire was started.

Police charged Corey Jermaine Lee, of 128 Thorne Ridge Circle in Rocky Mount, Friday with first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree burglary and arson.

Nathan Jones, 32, of 1913-D Tischer Road in Raleigh, and Brian Carney, 20, of 237 S. Winstead Ave. in Rocky Mount,  have also been charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and first-degree burglary.

All three men remain at large. They might be driving a GMC white Yukon with North Carolina tag YXA-1891 or a 1999 white Ford Taurus with North Carolina tag YTX-6836.

Police searched Carney and Jones' residences Thursday and have issued statewide arrest warrants for all three suspects.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jones, Carney and Lee should call the Rocky Mount police at 252-972-1411 or Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111.

According to state Department of Correction records, Lee has a lengthy criminal record dating to 1993. He has two common-law robbery convictions and others for assault, stolen goods and discharging a firearm into property.

DOC records show that Jones was convicted for selling drugs in the mid-1990s. He also served seven months in 2007 for discharging a firearm into property.

Carney was released from prison in January after serving six months for a probation revocation, according to DOC records. His probation stemmed from convictions for assault inflicting serious injury and attempted larceny from a person.
