Two dead in Raleigh shooting

A Saturday afternoon shooting killed two people and wounded another two east of downtown Raleigh, police said.

The shooting occurred at 316 Sunnybrook Road around 3:30 p.m., said Jim Sughrue, a Raleigh police spokesman.

Two men died from gunshot wounds, Sughrue said. Their names were withheld, pending notification of their families.

A man and woman were taken to WakeMed to be treated for non-life-threatening wounds.

Sughrue said police do not believe the location of the crime was randomly selected, but did not elaborate on that theory.

Investigators spent hours working the crime scene around a home. Officers used a K-9 to search woods around the property, but did not say what they were looking for.

Police took video of the driveway leading to the house.

Investigators said two men fled the scene in a dark-blue minivan, believed to be a late '90s model with untinted or lightly tinted windows.

The first suspect was described as a Hispanic mam in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 6 inches or 5-feet 7 inches tall, with a thin build and light complexion. He has short, curly hair and was clean shaven. He wore a white T-shirt and blue jeans, and police described his clothing was described as “very clean.”

The second suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his mid-to-late 20s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a very dark complexion. He weighs between 150 and 160 pounds. He has short, curly hair and was clean shaven. He wore a black polo-style shirt with yellow horizontal stripes.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the Raleigh Police Department’s Detective Division at 919-890-3555 or Crime Stoppers at 919-226-CRIME.
