Shooting Suspect Loose After House Siege in Wilson

A suspect in a shooting managed to get away after a standoff with police at his home in Wilson on Saturday.

An armed suspect is on the loose after a standoff with police at his house in Wilson.

Gaudalupe Montalvo, 37, brandished a semiautomatic pistol and threatened two men at 1012 Mercer St. shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. Montalvo allegedly struck Luis Antonio Sanchez in the head with the gun and fired at Eduardo Leon Alvarez.

Alvarez suffered a minor injury to his leg, officers said.

The suspect retreated to his house at 1023 Mercer St. Police set up a perimeter around the house and evacuated nearby homes.

Crisis negotiations and special response teams used a public-address system to attempt to communicate with Montalvo.

Officers obtained a search warrant and entered the house around 1:40 a.m. to find Montalvo had left.

Police said they seized an AK47 and numerous rounds of ammunition from the house and a vehicle outside it.

Montalvo is wanted for two counts each of assault with a deadly weapon and assault by pointing a gun, as well as one count each of going armed to the terror of the public and discharging a firearm within the city limits.

Montalvo is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Wilson CrimeStoppers at 252-243-2255.
