Traffic Changes Coming for Cary Crossroads

Cary is the fastest growing city in North Carolina, but all that development is forcing state transportation workers to look for ways to ease traffic congestion there. The state wants to make some changes in the Cary's Crossroads Shopping area.

Right now the plan is to widen both Walnut Street and US 1-64. The current on and off ramps would be replaced with a two way loop, but no decision has been made yet regarding the exact size or placement of the loop.

The project will cost about $20 million. Construction should begin in 2002.
