The University of North Carolina is reaching out to students who may not have access to traditional classes. A new class combining documentary-style televised lectures and the Internet will be offerred this spring.

The first multi-media class will be a course in economics. UNC Chancellor Michael Hooker says the new class will benefit adults who can't leave their jobs or families to make time for college.

Once a week will be the video part and they will go on-line a couple of times a week to have Internet based discussion groups

Hooker says if this trial class is a success, he envisions more classes like this being offerred across the whole university system.
