Doctors say six East Carolina University campus police officers are in stable condition after a fire at East Carolina University.

The officers rushed to the third floor Dormitory room to put out flames Tuesday night. Hundreds of students were evacuated from Aycock Residence Hall after smoke began filling the corridors.

The officers spent the night at Pitt Memorial Hospital undergoing treatment for smoke inhalation.
