Fayetteville Police Send Warning to Adults

In Fayetteville, police are warning adults about obeying laws. The law they have in mind states that ignorance is not an excuse. Police say they've noticed a disturbing trend in the number of statutory rape cases in the area.

They say part of the problem is teenage girls who lie about their age. Police warn that if a person has sex with a minor, even if it's consensual, that person may face statutory rape charges under North Carolina law.
