Utility Warns Consumers of Scam

CP&L issued a warning to consumers Monday. They say someone is pretending to be an electric company de-regulation expert in order to steal from consumers.

The con-artists work in several ways. One group talks its way into a house to scout it out for a burglary. Others try to sell special cost-saving gadgets.

The bottom line says, CP&L, is to check company identification badges andnotto let anyone attach something to your meter.
