A 14-year-old boy has been charged with shooting a 14-year-old girl in the head Thursday afternoon at his home on Saul Street.

Wilson police said a petition was filed with charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. The young man is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.

Neighbors said the girl lived with the boy and his mother and police said the two teens were home alone at the time of the shooting. Neighbors also said there hadn't been any previous problems at the home.

Wilson police are trying to figure out what led up to the shooting that sent the girl to Pitt Memorial. Doctors said the bullet passed through both her eyes and she will never see again. They're not sure if she will have brain damage.
