Fire investigators were sifting through what's left of an abandoned home in Carrboro. They believe someone set fire to the house early Friday morning.

When firefighters arrived, the house on West Main Street was engulfed in flames. They say the home has been abandoned for several months.

Investigators are trying to figure out whether Friday's fire could be the work of the same person who has set more than a dozen arson cases dating back to March 1996. Most of the fires have been set during the early morning hours and have damaged vacant buildings. The most recent rash of suspicious fires occurred June 24.
