Some young animal lovers are getting a head start on their careers at the NC State School of Veterinary Medicine. Rising sixth graders, specially selected from all over the state, are attending the Summer Veterinary Workshop.

The aspiring animal doctors are learning everything from scrubbing up to ultrasound technology. One of the young vets says she's going to use the experience to become a "people" doctor.

Sarah Miller realizes people won't like it if she hurts them. She says if she does, they will get mad then she will lose money being sued.

The young students are staying on campus for the week. They'll head for the NC Zoological Park Thursday. NC State is the only school in the country that starts veterinary training at such a young age.
