Tar Heels are Paying More at ATMs

If you use your cash card at an ATM that isn't owned by your bank probably you know the chances are good you'll pay a fee for the service. What you might not know is here in North Carolina we're paying more fees than almost any other state.

In 1995, North Carolina banks collected more than $15 billion in bank fees. State lawmakers say those charges are out of control.

One measure considered by lawmakers would protect your from being charged twice for the same transaction when you use an ATM that's not owned by your bank.
