Neighbors say it's an eyesore, but the state says it's not a problem. After visiting a tire storage yard in Clayton, inspectors with the Department of Natural Resources say the site is not an environmental threat.

The owner is trying to get a permit to use the 600,000 tires in an experimental project to reduce hog odor.

If that doesn't happen in the next few months, the D-N-R says it will reassess the situation.
