Part of Davis Drive To Be Closed

An engineer's discovery has closed a section of a major road in northern Cary.

The section, on Davis Drive, just south of Morrisville Carpenter Road to Morrisville Parkway, was closed Monday for emergency bridge replacement. Weather permitting, the N.C. Department of Transportation plans to reopen the road on Wednesday, May 14.

The bridge replacement begins after an NCDOT engineer found cracks in many of the joists under the bridge during an inspection. The bridge was orginally scheduled to be replaced this summer, but the construction was moved up.

NCDOT officials urge motorists to find alternate routes during the next week and to stay alert while driving in the work zone.
