Neighbors said that he was a quiet man who kept to himself. But police say the assistant scoutmaster in Halifax County allegedly molested a young boy.

Lawrence Fahey, 60, faces four counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor. According to the search warrant, a young boy claims that Fahey took him to a house last January to work on merit badges. Instead, Fahey allegedly gave the boy alcohol, played pornographic videos, and molested him.

The arrest has sent a wake-up call to people at the local Rotary Club -- the sponsor of Local Troop 144. Tom Lynch, leader of the Rotary Club in Roanoke Rapids, says that volunteers who wish to work in the Boy Scout program will undergo a more thorough screening process.

Community leaders say that this single arrest should not reflect badly on the Scouts, the parents, or the community.
