The standoff between Kelly-Springfield Tire and its striking Fayetteville workers went to a Federal court Wednesday.

The tire company had asked a judge to put an end to the strike, arguing that the United Steel Workers of American had violated a collective bargaining agreement.

The judge rejected that request, allowing the 2,400 workers to continue picketing. Workers began picketing in shifts after walking off the job at noon Tuesday.

The company plans to argue its case again at a court hearing next month.
