Juror in Boggess Trial Will Remain on Panel

A potential juror conflict is behind the latest delay in the Todd Boggess murder trial. Boggess is charged with the 1995 death of high school honor student Daniel Pence.

One of the jurors on the panel recently discovered that one of her friends has a close relationship with the victim's mother. Defense attorneys questioned the juror Wednesday, and determined that she will remain on the panel.

But another complication has arisen with the jury in the case.

An alternate juror who is a supervisor at Duke University Medical Center says her boss disapproves of her spending four to six weeks on jury duty. The juror said her boss thought that if she took that much time from her job at the patients and visitor services department, she didn't care about her job.

The juror says she doesn't want any repercussions. However, Judge Orlando Hudson says he wants the juror's boss to come to court to explain why the woman's service would be such an inconvenience.

The boss was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

The trial is now expected to resume Friday.
