Three college students are behind bars, accused of holding up a Wayne County convenience store.

Investigators say one of the men tried several times to shoot the store's clerk, but failed because the gun was empty. He had apparently borrowed the weapon thinking itwasloaded.

Willie Sellers Jr., 19, a student at the College of the Albemarle, is charged with robbery. Two other students, including one from St. Augustines College, are also charged in connection with the crime.
