Drunk Driving Victim's Parents Speak Out

An accident changed Grover and Sherry Nicholson's lives forever.

Their fifteen-year-old son, Frank, was just walking to Broughton High School that September morning, when a car barrelled into him, throwing the teen about thirty feet in the air, until he landed on his head.

Police say the driver of the car, William Rice, was drunk.

Frank is now at the Lenox Baker Rehabilitation Center. He has blood clots on his brain, and is rarely coherent.

William Rice had been charged with DWI four times before this accident. He was only convicted once.

This time, Rice is charged with DWI and assault with a deadly weapon. He's still in jail, and the assistant DA working the case believes these charges will stick in court.

But for Grover and Sherry Nicholson, it's just not enough.

This week William Rice pleaded not guilty to the charges he faces. The case will now go to Superior Court, but a trial date has not yet been set.
