Beaten Cumberland County Toddler Remains in Coma

An 18-month-old Cumberland County boy remains in a coma Friday after being admitted to Duke University Medical Center with massive head and torso injuries.

The child's mother and her boyfriend are behind bars under $25,000 bond, charged with child abuse.

Cumberland County Sheriff "Moose" Butler says Tamara Melvin and Steven Franklin are responsible for the child's injuries.
