Group Home Information

According to Jeff Horton, chief of the Mental Health Licensure and Certification Section of the State Division of Facility Services, the Arbor Residential Treatment Facility — where stabbing suspect Bobby Bradshaw lived — is a supervised living group home for mentally ill adults.

The home — at 4710 Arbor Road — is licensed for six clients. The original license dates back to April 1, 1991. The license is issued to Community Innovations, Inc., which runs 29 facilities in North Carolina.

The last full inspection of the home was August, 2000. At that time, some problems were found. A follow-up visit in January 2001 found the problems to be corrected. The state also investigated a complaint in January, but found it to be unsubstantiated. The state has never taken any administrative actions against the home, and there have been no fines or penalties levied.

Horton says this type of group home is not typically locked, and it is not uncommon for it to be located in a neighborhood.

Some clients in this type of home do have jobs.
