Company Founded by Mark Cuban Picks Inlet's Compression Technology

has landed a contract for hits high-definiton video compression technology with a firm launched by Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks.

That company, HDNet, said it chose Inlet's Fathom product for use in its production of HD content. HDNet is targeting content in what is called 1080i format.

"Fathom is one of the few tools we've found that solves the size problem for 1080i content, while maintaining outstanding quality," said Ken Bonzon, technical director of Mark Cuban Companies. "When you're producing up to 20 hours of new original programming each week, in the highest quality 1080i HDTV format, you need to select top of the line solutions that scale with technology and production demands. That's what Inlet provides."

HDNet provides a variety of content in HD format for a variety of cable TV systems.

The deal was announced at the National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas.
